Patriot Memory for Ultrabook

When I got a hold of a Toshiba U925t Ultrabook with Windows 8, one of the first things I looked to do was upgrade its memory from 4GB to 8GB. When I upgraded laptop memory in the past, I typically looked at density and frequency. If given the choice, I also went with a lower CAS latency. What I’d never considered before was the voltage. Since Ultrabooks typically use low-voltage processors, it makes sense to pair them with low-voltage memory. Patriot was one of the first to market with a memory upgrade specifically designed for Ultrabooks. I received a sample of the 8GB PC3-12800 SODIMM (PSD38G1600L2S) for testing and have been very pleased with the results.

Since the introduction of their highly acclaimed, high-performance Wildfire SSD drive, Patriot Memory has been busy filling out their selection of SATA III SSD drives. The original Pyro SSD was released as a value-oriented alternative to the Wildfire. The lower cost of the Pyro was achieved by using asynchronous NAND flash memory. Now, Patriot has released the Pyro SE, which uses the higher-performance, synchronous NAND flash. The Pyro SE settles in, right in between the Wildfire and the Pyro.
